Embryology Team and the IVF Laboratory

The founding partners of Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York were driven to create a paramount fertility center that would achieve some of the highest success rates available today. They invested millions of dollars to meticulously research, design, and create an IVF laboratory that would foster the most optimal environment for healthy embryos to grow and thrive. Our HVAC unit, a state-of-the-art filtration system that regulates the IVF laboratory with constant temperature, gas levels and moisture, continually refreshes the entire laboratory with newly purified air within 60 seconds. The unit was so complex and prodigious in size that RMA of New York had to tear the 9th floor windows apart, acquire New York City’s permission to close down Madison Avenue, and lift the HVAC unit up with a crane.

Investing in a high quality laboratory would be meaningless if RMA of New York did not employ an elite team of embryologists to complement it. The partners rigorously combed the country to seek out a top-of-the-line embryology team. They were fortunate to fill the embryology laboratory director position with Marlena Duke, MSc, ELD, a seasoned and renowned embryologist working in the field since 1991 whose accomplishments include significantly advancing micromanipulation techniques. RMA of New York also employed Jason Barritt, PhD, ELD, HCLD as Scientific Director. Dr. Barritt directs the Andrology and Endocrinology Laboratories, and also is one of the Directors of the Embryology Laboratory. He is a coveted reproductive expert who has been recruited by fertility centers across the United States and has made significant strides to advance the field of reproductive technologies. Both directors are regularly called upon to speak in both national and international scientific meetings. They have given lectures to various fertility programs to discuss their expertise on embryo biopsy and fixation for preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).

Marlena Duke, MSc, ELD and Jason Barritt, PhD, ELD, HCLD manage a team of rigorously trained embryologist finely attuned to quality control and precision to ensure that the patients of RMA of New York and their embryos are in the best of hands.
